Green Living
Did you know that you could actually save money and help the planet out at the same time? After I took some time to go through my finances and then sat down to see where and how I could pinch a penny, I came up with this nicely laid out plan to help you save money and it is all part of green living.
If you are looking for a way to save money and take part in green living, this is the guide for you. I will offer up tips that you can use on a daily basis to cut back cost on different items to help you save money. Once you start putting these items into affect, it won’t even seem like you are trying to be into the green living life since most of it will come naturally to you.
Green living is about saving the planet and you too can do this by replacing regular light bulbs with energy efficient ones. Did you know that approximately 25% of our homes energy comes from light? Imagine what it would be like you if went a step further and vowed to keep one light completely off.
Doing what you can to save money can also be accomplished by switching your thermostat to an energy efficient thermostat. I now have a Ritetemp thermostat in my home since it comes with a preset energy efficient control which is also great for green living. Even if you don’t want to switch to a thermostat like the one that I have you can always just change the temperature yourself. The way you can save money on your bills is by setting the temperature so that it is higher in the summer and lower in the winter. Did you know that every degree that you set the thermostat up for the summer and low for the winter can save you one percent on your heating bill. Just imagine how much more you could save by putting this to more use.
Green living by turning off appliances in your home can actually save money. Most people have probably heard this before but few of us actually do it. If it is too hard for you to turn everything off at once, why not invest in a surge protector? Many surge protectors come with a multitude of plugins and you can easily switch it off and on and then unplug the surge protector when you go to bed or are out at night.
Saving money can be done easily by getting rid of all those cold drafts in the house. It may cost you a little bit to take care of all the drafts in your home but in the end it will be well worth it. Most drafts can be handled by caulking or weather stripping which can be found at most local hardware stores.
Green living and saving money kind of go hand in hand since you are going to become more aware of your energy usage and this will help to save you money. There are many other ways that you could be saving money such as recycling around your home by finding other uses for bags and plastics. Clothes are also a good thing to recycle since you could use them as hand me downs for your other siblings or children.
